Game freeze and crash when selecting options

The issue works like this:

I can get into the game as far as logging into a character. However, if at any point I select the options menu (from server select through logged in as a character), the video will freeze for a few minutes while audio continues, then it finally crashes completely.

After spending a couple weeks going back and forth with technical support, this issue has not been resolved. Props to them, btw, most FTP games' tech support would not have tried so hard to fix an issue for a non-paying customer.

My rig is running Win 7 with dual GTX 560 cards in SLI. Feel free to ask if more details are desired.

Here's the summary of what we tried so far:

1. At first, I had the game installed through Steam. Since then, in case the issue was caused through that install, it has been uninstalled/reinstalled through the NCSoft install client. Ran the game to test the issue: No luck.

2. I ran the Game Advisor application as directed, computer directly connected to modem instead of router. Some Winsock discrepancies were noticed by the techs, so I was instructed to reset them to default. No luck.

3. I used MSConfig to disable all non-Microsoft services on boot and tried it that way. No luck.

4. I was asked to try it with Razer Synapse shut off, in case that program was being picked up as a third party program by GameGuard. No luck.

5. I tried running the program in compatibility mode. No luck.

6. I was directed to the location where crash reports should be created. None were in place.

7. I was asked to run Windows Update to make sure I had the latest updates. I was missing one critical update (I try to keep the computer patched). No luck.

8. I tried, from a Google search, a script I found that was reported as a solution:

@echo off
start bin32\aion.bin -ip:64.25.35.103 -port:2106 -cc:1 -noauthgg -charnamemenu -f2p -webshopevent:1 -loginex -pwd16 -nosatab -fmd -64 -nowebshop

I wish I knew all the details of what all the arguments in this script did. It succeeded in starting the game and letting me open options without crashing. However, since it bypasses the NC Launcher, getting past the server select is not allowed, and even if I could, I wouldn't want to risk not keeping the game patched. Unfortunately, the tech support is adamant that scripts are not allowed, so I had to ditch this path.

9. I ran the Windows System File Checker, no issues were found.

10. I was asked to change aoin.bin in the bin64 folder to aion2.bin, per a forum post. No luck.

11. I set up port forwarding for the four pots that Aion needs to access (80, 2106, 7777, and 10241). I tested it with a port testing client I installed. The ports verified as open. No luck.

12. I tried several VPN clients, to see if there could be an issue between the ISP and the Aion server. No luck.

13. I uninstalled my AV software, in case that was blocking something even when temporarily disabled. No luck.

Here we ran out of options of things to test, according to the techs.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd especially love it if someone can tell me what that script actually does, as the techs are probably not allowed to even discuss that subject (I tried a couple times) and I am convinced that if I can understand what was going right while using that script, I might have a chance at understanding what is wrong on my computer or in the game files that can be changed to make it work.

Fire Gleeful Ladder replied to xform and flight time

Greetings, Daeva, We understand your frustration and appreciate you reaching out to the community for help. Not receiving a verification email is a common issue that many players have encountered across various games. We’ve checked the forums and have a few potential fixes you can try. Hopefully, one of these will help you get into the game!

Possible Fixes for Verification Email Issue

Check Your Email Folders: This may seem obvious, but it's the most common solution. Please check your spam, junk, and other filtered folders. Sometimes, a legitimate email can be mistakenly flagged and sent there. Add Aion to Your Whitelist: To prevent future emails from being blocked, add the official Aion email address (often something like `noreply@aiononline.com` or an equivalent from NCSoft/Gameforge) to your email account's contact list or whitelist. This tells your email provider that you trust the sender. Try a Different Email Provider: Some email providers, particularly those like Hotmail, Outlook, or Live, are known to be overly aggressive with their spam filters. If you used one of these, consider creating a new account with a different provider, such as Gmail, and try the registration process again. Many players report better success with services like Gmail. Wait for the Email: Depending on server load and other factors, there can sometimes be a significant delay in receiving the verification email. In some cases, it may take several hours or even a full day to arrive. If you've just created your account, we recommend waiting a while longer before assuming it's a bug. Contact Aion Support Directly: If none of the above steps work, the best course of action is to contact the official Aion support team. They have the tools to manually verify your account or provide a direct solution. You can typically find a link to their support portal on the official game website. They will likely ask for your account name and the email address you used. We hope this information helps, and we look forward to seeing you in Atreia soon! Feel free to update us if you find a solution that works for you, as it may help other players with the same problem. Best regards, The Forum Moderator Team
